Well, the holidays are upon us and with them comes colder weather. Living in Texas, we really only have two seasons: Hot and Cold. Of course, being a true Southern girl, I have never really cared for cold weather. I can never get warm enough, my skin gets dry and chapped and I never seem to get around to buying a really cute coat.
Winter’s saving grace for me is really the fact that it encompasses my two favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but there are other things that I do truly love about fall and winter as well.
I love the sound of crunching leaves under your feet.
I love roaring fireplaces.
I love the spicy smell of cinnamon, clove and ginger that wafts out of kitchens.
I love that there is an excuse to bake as much as you want.
I love shopping for new Christmas tree ornaments.
I love hanging out in jammies and fuzzy socks on Thanksgiving and Christmas morning.
I love hot chocolate spiked with peppermint schnapps.
I love having an excuse to bust out the flannel sheets and huge fluffy down comforter.
I love chunky sweaters and fuzzy boots.
I love love love putting up the Christmas tree. It’s the highlight of the holiday season for me.
What is your favorite part of colder weather?
